What we keep, and why

ZONK keeps as little about you as it can and still save your games. This page says what that is.

Playing without an account

You can play the free dungeons without telling us anything. Those games aren't saved, and we don't keep a record of who played them.

Your account

When you register we keep your email address, the name you ask us to call you, and your password. The password is stored as a one-way hash, so nobody here can read it. We also keep whether you asked to hear about new dungeons.

We use your email address to confirm your account, to send a link when you reset your password, and, only if you ticked the box, to tell you when new dungeons come out. You can turn that off on your profile at any time. We don't sell or rent your address to anyone.

Your saved games

Each saved game is stored on your account, one for each dungeon, so you can carry on from any computer. A save holds your party, where you are, what you carry, and any names and portraits you gave your heroes. Only upload portraits you have the right to use.

Subscriptions and purchases

Payments are handled by Stripe. Your card details go to Stripe, not to us; we only learn whether a subscription or purchase is active so we can open the right dungeons. Stripe's own privacy policy covers what they keep.

Cookies

When you log in we set a cookie that keeps you logged in, and our forms use a security cookie to stop forged requests. That's all. ZONK has no advertising or tracking cookies and no analytics.

Other services the site uses

Pages load their fonts from Google Fonts, and the Register page uses Google reCAPTCHA to keep out bots. Both mean your browser talks to Google, which sees your IP address and browser details under Google's privacy policy. Like any web server, ours also logs each request's IP address and time, which we use to keep the site running and secure.

Closing your account

If you want your account and saved games deleted, contact us from the email address on the account and we'll remove them.

Changes

If what we keep changes, we'll update this page. Last updated 30 October 2026.
